There is bad Gucci and there is good Gucci. The good Gucci started when Mert and Marcus stepped in. I remember being blown away by the stunning pictures they did. But just like everything else it went wrong too fast. This campaign was bathed in gold. Yes, and that is not a good thing. Gucci tried to do the golden pictures before (F/W 2010 campaign) and it worked because it was the right amount of gold, but then it got really boring with S/S 2011 and everything I liked about those others campaigns was gone.
But then again, it was heaven all of the sudden with F/W 2011. That was the highest point, that was the heaven of heavens and I couldn't ask for more of the campaign. When I saw the S/S 12 collection I stayed in heaven (not the heaven of all heavens, a few heavens bellow) watching models coming and going on the runway with those amazing dresses.
But then Frida Giannini did it again! She brought back the gold. She's a gold maniac! And this time she brought it all. Abbey is golden like she never was before and I just don't like it. I would love to see this collection photographed on the cold colours of the F/W 2011 campaign.
