FASHION COMMA

Dior haute couture by Raf Simons Spring 2013

I was really excited to see Raf Simons second take on haute couture. And it's complicated. I do like it. I really do. But it's not evolving the way I wanted him to. This show is a continuation of his last couture show. And I get how he is mixing haute couture with ready to wear but it's just not right. The lines between rtw and hc at Dior are getting too thin, too blurred. I love his aesthetic but can he move from his rigid minimalistic style and create something epic? I mean, more epic? When I hear that fashion is in a creative comma and look at collections I have to agree. Raf's couture shows were very similar. And after one season I want to see something new. Otherwise it gets boring.

Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane fall/winter 2013
Others disaventurous are Hedi Slimane's menswear collection. I mean, there's no words. It's just a big, fat LAWL. What can I say? I had a feeling that he wouldn't do Saint Laurent justice and I hate to say it (NOT!), I was right. Take a look at his menswear collection. It's just so sad. It looks like GAP and ZARA from five years ago. It's sad. I miss Stefano.

DISARMED

Milla Jovovich by Inez and Vinoodh for Vogue Paris Feb 2013
Emmanuelle Alt is going the extra mile to clean Carine's reputation and imagery from Vogue Paris. It's clear that she's killing the magazine issue by issue. This time she had Milla Jovovich going resident evil high fashion through New York killing everyone and everything. It's so bad I just can't look. How can an amazing visionary magazine become so bad in so little time? It's just not right. Carine made me not only buy Vogue Paris but collect them. They were a font of inspiration! And now all we get is this. Black Milla killing everyone with her bare hands. I mean, in one picture it would have been fun but in the whole editorial? Please... someone fire Emmanuelle Alt fast.

CORPSE BRIDE

Giorgio Armani is dead. Or in a heavy coma and his team has recreated over and over again the same designs season after season. That is the only explination. I've been thinking about this for a while and it bothers me that no one says anything about it. His collections are always the same. Over and over again. It's like the Valentino nightmare all over again. At least Valentino is cuter than this. This shapes, the space, everything about it is so boring and dated. It's been like this for ages. I just can't stand it. I haven't been excited about an Armani show in decades. It's such a pitty he's such a great designer. Or maybe it was. His really old, go live your life in style and put someone new on your place. His haute couture collections are cool but it's the same as his ready to wear. Boring! Always the same! And what about Emporio Armani? Can you tell me what's the difference beetween Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani? I just can't see it anymore. Above are looks from different seasons from Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani, if you can tell them apart you win.

NEWS FROM THE WORLD

Sky Ferreira by Hedi Slimane for Saint Laurent Pre Fall Lookbook
I will always have a special place in my heart for Hedi Slimane's photography. I will forever be in love with what he's in love. I love Sky, I love Hedi's pictures. I'm just going to say this (maybe I'm going to swallow my words after his next collection): Hedi Slimane at YSL was not a good choice. The brand is dying. It was dying with Pilati and it's dying with Slimane. It's just too cool for school. And I get it, that's Hedi's style, but this is fucking Yves Saint Laurent legacy! Pilati's designs were boring but at least they respected the history and made sense. Now this? Don't get me wrong, I do like it, but this is not the concept of Saint Laurent. It's not enough watching Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli destroy Valentino I still need to live through Hedi Slimane recreating Saint Laurent. So I'm forever stuck in love/hate limbo. I love the pictures, I love Sky, I love the clothes but I hate what he's doing to Saint Laurent. I just want to hate it but I can't.
Another interesting topic is that the look books season after season are starting to look like editorials. And editorials are starting to look like look books. Is it really necessary? I don't really care. I kind of like the idea of making it more than a look book. It's not as easy to see the clothes but who cares... Anyway, this is getting huge. Ok, bye.

BARBIE & KEN GO PARTY

Daria Werbowy with Edward Wilding and Veit Couturier by Mert & Marcus for Versace S/S 2013

Hi Barbie
Hi Ken!
Do you wanna go for a ride?
Sure Ken!
Jump In...

... And then they arrived. With their Versace clothes looking flaw free and super glamorous. They arrived at Agrabah and started partying with Aladdin and Jasmine till dawn. That's what is all about. A Versace girl will always be fun. Will always be at a party and will always, I mean, always be with two or more sexy gladiators next to her.
I really like this picture. All of them. I don't care that is photoshoped to the bone, who cares? Life in plastic is fantastic! Who's more plastic than Donatella herself? And she's amazing. Gosh how I love super models whiping hair surronded by sexy male models half naked. I'll always be easy for Versace, what can I do? People who don't like Versace? You can't blame 'em, they ain't never seen Versace sofas.

IT'S SPRING

Anna Martynova, Daiane Conterato, Marie Piovesan and Daria Strokous for Dior by Raf Simons by Willy Vanderperre
Putt your eyes on this! This, everyone, is the face of change. The face of the future. At least for now. Raf Simons' first campaign for Dior is here and it is so fresh! It's fucking spring! It's white and wind blows from every direction. This a tremendous change from the last campaign by Galliano (long live!). Aren't you in awe by all this freshness? I fucking am. I loved how the set of the runway was the set of the campaign.

Stella Tennant, Ondria Hardin, Yumi Lambert by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel S/S 2013
And what about Chanel? Uncle Karl surprised me. I was getting bored of his campaigns. They were becoming so dull. And there's nothing worst than dull. I love the theme of it all. It's so fresh as well, so spring-ish. I would never expect a picture like this from Chanel. It's kind of Miu Miu-ish. But it's cool. Check it out above.
